The size of the spangles of galvanized sheets mainly includes large spangles, small spangles and no spangles (zero spangles). These differences are mainly reflected in the appearance, processing technology, performance and use of the spangles.
Large zinc flower: The characteristic of large zinc flower is that the zinc flower is thick in the middle and thin at the ends and edges. Even after smoothing, it is difficult to smooth the surface. Large zinc blooms solidify under natural conditions. Due to the free growth of zinc grains, a coating with obvious zinc blooms is formed. The formation of large zinc flowers is related to the difference in lead content during processing. The crystallization center of each zinc flower is convex and the edges are concave. Its surface has an uneven appearance, which will affect subsequent processing. and painting are unfavorable. The corrosion resistance of large zinc flowers is not as good as that of small zinc flower galvanized sheets, because the solid solution content of lead in zinc is very low, and it will precipitate at the grain boundaries during cooling, causing stress and electrochemical corrosion, reducing its corrosion resistance.
Small zinc flowers: The characteristics of small zinc flowers are the tiny zinc flower structures that are visible to the naked eye and are solidified under natural conditions and obtained through appropriate control. The diameter of the small zinc flowers is 1~2mm. When the hot-dip galvanized sheet comes out of the zinc pot and sprays water mist or zinc powder on the unsolidified zinc layer, a water mist droplet and a zinc powder particle will form a crystal. Center, the number of zinc flowers per unit area increases and becomes smaller, so the galvanized plate surface will form small zinc flowers that can be distinguished with the naked eye. The production process of small zinc flowers may cause uneven zinc flowers, uneven surface color, and high production costs.
No zinc flower (zero zinc flower): The characteristic of zinc flower free is that the zinc flower cannot be seen with the naked eye on the board, which is also called zero zinc flower. This is accomplished by controlling the chemical composition of the zinc liquid. When hot-dip galvanizing, only a certain amount of aluminum is added to the zinc liquid, without adding lead, antimony, or tin, to produce zinc-free products. The surface structure without spangle is generally smoothed.
To sum up, the main difference in the size of the zinc flower of galvanized sheets lies in its appearance, processing technology, performance and use. Large spangles are gradually being replaced by small spangles and non-sprinkle products due to their special appearance and performance characteristics.
