Product Introduction

Spiral-welded pipe is manufactured from coils of steel that are unwound and flattened. The flattened strip is formed by right-angle rollers into a cylinder of the desired diameter.

The weld is welded under powder coating. This process is also known as Submerged Arc Welding (SAW). At the end of the spiral, a new spiral is welded to the back edge of the pipe, creating a cross seam. The pipe is cut to length and the ends are beveled if necessary.

Spiral-welded pipes are available in sizes from 600 mm to 3650 mm.

Advantages of Spiral Welded Steel Pipe

• The different diameters of spiral steel pipes can be produced by the same width coil, especially large-diameter steel pipes can be produced by narrow steel coil.
  

• Under the same pressure condition, the stress of spiral welding seam is smaller than that of straight welding seam, which is 75% ~ 90% of that of straight welding seam welded pipe, so it can bear large pressure. Compared with the straight welded pipe with the same outer diameter, the wall thickness of spiral welded pipe can be reduced by 10% ~ 25% under the same pressure.
  

• The dimension is accurate. Generally speaking, the diameter tolerance is not more than 0.12% and the ovality is less than 1%. The sizing and straightening processes can be omitted.
  

• It can be produced continuously. Theoretically speaking, it can produce infinite steel pipe with small head and tail cutting loss, and can improve the metal utilization rate by 6% ~ 8%.
  

• Compared with straight seam welded pipe, it has flexible operation and convenient variety change and adjustment.
  

• Light equipment weight and less initial investment. It can be made into a trailer type mobile unit to produce welded pipes directly at the construction site where the pipes are laid.
