Low-carbon steel wire is flexible and bend-resistant, suitable for building binding wire and annealed iron wire; medium-high carbon steel wire has a hardness of HRC60+ after quenching, and is specially used for wear-resistant scenes such as springs, bearings, and knives. Product Introduction


Carbon steel wire is a metal alloy wire with an iron base and a carbon content of 0.02%-2.11%. Its mechanical properties are regulated by cold drawing, annealing, quenching and other processes. Its carbon content determines its use: low-carbon steel wire (C≤0.25%) is flexible and easy to process, and is widely used in building binding wire and galvanized iron wire; medium-carbon steel wire (C≤0.60%) combines strength and plasticity, and is suitable for mechanical parts and cold-headed bolts; high-carbon steel wire (C≥0.60%) has a hardness of HRC60 or above after quenching, and is specially used in wear-resistant scenes such as springs, bearings, and knives.


Carbon steel wire can be divided into the following categories according to the carbon content:

1. Low carbon steel wire

Carbon content: ≤0.25%

Characteristics:good plasticity, low strength, easy to process and weld, commonly used to make iron wire, nails and ordinary structural parts.

2. Medium carbon steel wire

Carbon content:0.25%-0.60%

Characteristics: moderate strength and hardness, with certain plasticity, suitable for making springs, mechanical parts and tools.

3. High carbon steel wire

Carbon content: 0.60%-1.00%

Characteristics: high strength, hardness, good wear resistance, but poor plasticity, commonly used to make high-strength springs, wire ropes and cutting tools.

Ultra-high carbon steel wire

4. Carbon content: >1.00%

Characteristics:extremely high hardness, high brittleness, high processing difficulty, mostly used for special tools and wear-resistant parts.

Applications of Carbon Steel Wire


1.Construction field

  • Low carbon steel wire: annealed wire is used for tying steel bars and guardrail nets; galvanized steel wire is used for anti-theft windows and fences (resistant to salt spray corrosion).

  • High carbon steel wire: prestressed steel wire (such as concrete beam reinforcement).

2.Automotive industry

  • Spring steel wire: 65Mn steel wire is used for suspension springs and valve springs (high fatigue strength).

  • Cold formed parts: medium carbon steel wire is used to manufacture seat frames and exhaust pipe clamps.

3.Machinery manufacturing

  • Bearing steel wire: high carbon chromium steel (such as G20CrNiMo) is used for rolling bearings, with a life of >10⁸ times.

  • Tool steel wire: T9A steel wire is used to make files and saw blades (excellent red hardness).

4.Civil protection

  • Galvanized high carbon steel wire: woven anti-theft nets, fences (strong shear resistance).

  • Stainless steel plastic coated steel wire: used for balcony invisible protective nets (both decorative and protective).

5.Hardware tools

  • Low carbon steel wire: nail wire clips, packaging and bundling wires.

  • High carbon steel wire: steel nails, wire brushes (hardness HRC55+).
